Port of Menteith, Stirling
This delightful church nestles beside the beautiful Lake of Menteith - the only lake in Scotland. A gallery spans the rear of the building that also accommodated an attractive though redundant reed organ. We adapted the case of this earlier instrument and turned it through 90 degrees so that the pipework faced out down the building rather than as originally installed, facing across the gallery.
This then made an effective and aesthetically pleasing speaker chamber for the new organ - a Wyvern Minuet. The new instrument is positioned at the front of the building allowing the organist to become part of the service rather than hidden away from it in the gallery, and the audio system in the newly converted pipe chamber gives even sound coverage throughout the church.
